Share your digital photos with the Pelican and you might just see your photos in the newspaper or on the website!

We're looking for photos, all kinds of photos. Send them in and our crack staff will sort through them and pick the best ones to grace our publications or Website. We can not offer any compensation, other than our immense gratitude and the newfound fame of your local community. You will of course be given full credit for your photos. Amaze your friends. Annoy your enemies. Share your photos with the Pelican and all the rest of Sarasota.

Please note that at this time we can accept only digital photos. All user submitted photos and captions are subject to approval of our editors.

Photo Submission Guidelines

Technical

• Digital photos only (sorry we cannot accept printed photos)
• Submit photos as jpg, tif, or png format image files.
• We need high quality files - 3 megapixel cameras or above
• Send photos as attachments (not embedded into the body of the e-mail message).
• Photos cannot exceed 10mb in size.
• Provide a photo caption, date photo was taken, and a contact phone number when submitting your photo. Also, you may wish to include any other text you feel is relevant to explain the photo.
• Please include the phrase "Photo Submission" in the subject of your e-mail
• Please send the highest quality photo available. Most e-mail applications will attempt to downsize the photos before sending them and this action effectively makes teh photos unusable for us. Please read your software manual and determine if your software automatically downsizes your images before e-mailing.

Submission Copyright

By submitting photos to Pelican Press and the e-mail address provided, you agree to allow Pelican Press to publish your photos within reasonable limits in Pelican Press Publications and websites. You agree that the Pelican Press may use the image without limits unless we are contacted directly via written correspondence notifying Pelican Press that you no longer wish to allow it rights to your photo. By submitting your photo to Pelican Press you assume all responsibility for copyright infingement. It is your responsibility to verify the photo you are submitting is your own photo and any content within the photo is free of copyright or liability. Pelican Press shall not be help liable for any infingement of copyright within user submitted photos. If you are the legal copyright owner of a posted photo and you wish to have the photo removed, please contact Pelican Press in written form at 5011 Ocean Blvd; Sarasota, FL 34242.

Pelican Press reserves the right at its discretion to review, crop, edit, and alter within means for proper reproduction any photos you submit. Pelican Press reserves the right to reject photos for any reason and may do so without explanation. Please do not contact Pelican Press if your photo does not appear. We receive a large volume of photos and it often takes some time before processing them all and getting them published.

Pelican Press appreciates all the photos that are submitted and feels it brings us all closer as a community when we see not only what the media sees but also what the community sees.
